The best stable diffusion web apps

Stable Diffusion web apps allow you to try out making amazing AI in your browser without needing a powerful machine or installing your own version on your local computer.

Whilst we always recommend running SD on your own PC, for occasional users, and for just checking out what you can do with it, these Stable Diffusion web apps are perfect for new users.

Some of these Stable Diffusion web apps are completely free to use (forever), whilst the premium apps generally give you some trial credits for signing up and you’ll need to buy more if you want to keep using them. However, they are great, and we really do recommend trying them out, as premium apps tend to be much better than the completely free ones.

Totally Free Stable Diffusion Web Apps

The following list are apps which you can use for free, but generally they have limited functionality and typically they only render small images (usually 512×512 pixels). They aren’t really any use for creating high end art which you can sell, but it’s great if you just want to play around.

Hugging Face

Hugging Face is probably the quickest way to try Stable Diffusion out absolutely free. It has a super simple Stable Diffusion web app, with no signup or mucking about required. Just head to the Hugging Face Stable Diffusion website and enter your prompt.

– You often have to wait in the queue
– Advanced features generally disabled
– Low resolution (512x512px) images only

BaseTen

BaseTen is also really easy to use, and doesn’t require any login details. Whilst it generally works a little faster than Hugging Face, it only outputs one image at a time, which can be a little annoying.

Premium Stable Diffusion Web Apps

These are some of the best WebApps which use Stable Diffusion, and they all give you a free trial or free credits. The quality of these is generally much higher than you get with the totally free web apps above, and often have more advanced features too!

Photosonic by Writesonic

Photosonicis a great web app which is part of the Writesonic suite of tools. to use, you need to sign up for a free Writesonic account, and you get a ton of free credits to use to try out Photosonic.

To use, you need to get your Writesonic account opened, and then click on the Photosonic button in the left hand menu once you’re verified and logged in.

Dreamstudio

Created by Stability.AI, the developers of Stable Diffusion, Dreamstudio is fantastic for learning about Stable Diffusion (particularly if you want to run your own local install). It’s packed with pretty much all the features you’d need into a really nice looking user interface. Highly recommended!

You get 200 free credits to get you going, but be aware, these will be used up pretty quickly, and keep an eye on how much each generation will cost you.

What’s amazing is you can choose your model, steps, cfg scale, and set the width and height for each image. You’ll be charged credits based on your choices, so if you’re just playing about, probably best to make sure you don’t go crazy with the features or it will soon suck your free credits away.

Dreamstudio Web App UI
✅ Pro’s❌ Cons
– Awesome AI
– Loads of free credits
– Feature rich and very customisable
– Allows up to 1028×1028 images
– Still beta mode at the moment
– Image generation can get a little pricey if you’re doing a lot

Hotpot

Hotpot allows you to create up to 5 free images per day (but don’t do any more, or you may get your account banned!), which is great for testing, and if you want bigger images, faster results and no daily limits, you can become a premium user and buy credits.

One really cool feature of Hotpot is the ability to generate based on preset styles.

✅ Pro’s❌ Cons
– 5 Free images per day
– Can import your own seed image
– Option to choose from preset styles
– Lots of credit purchase options
– Still only 1 image allowed for free generation
– Not the best laid out web app
– Can have pretty long wait times at busy periods
